Dana 30 out! Dynatrac ProRock44 in!

Well, the bad news is that the Dana 30 just won't hold up to my style of wheeling. If you remember, i had to replace seized UV joints and worn out bearing assemblies on the front. During this operation i knicked the driver side axle seal. i drove to NC (URE), wheeled for a few days, and drove back to MI. By the time i got back the pinion bearings were trashed. It's unknown but i'll bet all the bearings are trashed after getting water in the diff.

The poor rig now gets serious death wabble and shouldn't be driven over 45mph. The only way to stop it is to put on your blinker and pull over to a complete stop. Unsafe to say the least.

So i began my hunt for a new axle. As with my mantra, it's time to upgrade the axle. Really i am doing some front end upgrades.

i have settled on a Dynatrac ProRock44 axle, Full Traction adjustable lower control arms, a new steering stabilizer and a new drive shaft. After this work, there won't be any Chrysler components up front. The axle is all the way baby! You start with a Dana 44, gear it 4.88 with ring and pinion essentially like a Dana 60. It's getting an ARB air locker. The RCV axles are chromolly. The ball joints and bearings are the best available. The custom build gets all the angles as they should be. With 1 ton joints etc, this axle is said to be bullet proof up to 42" tires. With my little 33s we should be all set up front. i'm told there's nothing left to upgrade up front.

The drive shaft is a custom built to length shaft and both yokes are replaced. The Mopar shaft has a dust boot which rubs right on the cross member, destroying it.

i'm not disclosing the price. Go ahead and find your own pricing on this work!

i will post a complete build sheet and pics when the work is final.
